With reference to a recent article in the Daily Mail (yes I read it, they have the best app) I’ve got to raise my concerns about dry shampoo. I understand the benefits; prolong your blow dry, emergency freshen up before a night out, quick fix. Which is exactly what it should be. A QUICK FIX!
Using dry shampoo on a every few day basis, that extra couple of days you don’t have to wash your hair will ruin your hair. It’s that simple, you are clogging your hair follicles and Sebaceous glands. You are drying out your hair and inevitably over time thinning your hair.
I’m not talking as one of those annoying people that can get the best part of a week out of a blow dry. I have incredibly oily skin therefore if I don’t wash my hair daily I look like I’ve been at a festival for a few days… This is not damaging far from it. With the correct products and styling techniques I include this in my daily routine… A gentle shampoo (once only) condition, heat protection, blast dry and gentle blow dry. Those with thicker hair it’s not so easy but making the time is so important. Avoiding dry shampoos is a must for the health of your hair and scalp. If you want to skip a hair wash day opt for a pony tail or perfect your top knot.
Philip Kingsley hair trichologist supports this and regularly washing… Besides, you wouldn’t not wash your lady garden regularly!
